PART 1
(Note: Steampunks actual name is Cedric Tinkerton, so when I refer to Cedric I mean Steampunk tongue.gif)

'What about him?' whisperd the female elf, sitting at the table besides two other elves and a bearded gnome. They had been in the Lakeshire Inn nearly all morning, plans and charts spread out in front of them, constantly whispering and planning.
'Him?' whisperd the male elf, glancing across the tavern, 'he's just a mage. And no higher than my knees. He'll ruin things.'
'Mabye not,' said the gnome sitting with them, stroking his beard. 'He certainly something...'
'Look,' said the first elf, 'we'll bring him along, if he dosn't help we'll let him get smashed by Defias Pick Axes, okay?'
The gathering all nodded.

'So this Mine we're going to,' said Steampunk as he jogged along behind the others. 'It's quite safe is it?'
They were traveling across the yellow plains of Westfall, the sun was high in the sky and in the distance the seagulls could be heard screeching above the cliffs.
'Yeah Cedric the mine is fine,' said the gnome ahead of him. He was dressed in long red robes and followed by a cackling imp, while a gnarled staff hung from his back. 'All you have to do is keep an eye out okay?'
'Okay,' nodded Cedric. He had no idea why he was there and no idea why he said he would join this group of obviously deranged adventurers.
Soon they reached a small town, a collection of shabby buildings clusterd around a ruined schoolhouse, and the pace slowed up.
'Why are we going so slow?' inquired the gnomish warlock, a hand clasped over his imps mouth to stop it screeching, 'the Mines are right over there!'
'Shhh keep your voice down,' whisperd the male elf, clearly the leader from his air of authority and military armour strapped to his body. 'The Defias are crawling all over Moonbrook, if they see us then they'll alert the Mine.'
The group carried onwards around the edge of the town. Cedric occasionally glimpsed a figure moving nearby, a bright red bandana tied over its mouth and a long sword clutchched in his hand. He hurried on and saw that the rest of the group had stopped in front of a small building. The male elf checked everybody was there, grasped his long red bow in his gloved hands, and made his way inside. They went up a staircase of an old house, then down a coridoor, then enterd a long shaft that seemed to have been mined directly out of the earth itself. A wooden walkway spiraled downwards and led into what Steampunk assumed to be the mine.
'What is it we're here for?' he whisperd to the female elf beside him, a warrior dressed in black.
'To see a man,' she replied in hushed tones, 'A mister Van Cleef. For a buisness meeting.'
'Oh,' said Steampunk, hurrying to keep up with the long strides of the male elf.
Suddenly from up ahead a toarch light flickerd and from round the corner came a large group of men, naked to the waist and holding mining picks. They roared and jogged forwards, the orange light flickering across their faces, and swung their weapons infront of them.
'Brace yourselves,' yelled the male elf. He drew back his bow and fired a flaming shot, it shot through the air and buried into the chest of one of the miners. In the space of a single second, he drew and fired several more shots at the approaching miners, while the other two female elves rushed forwards and the warlock sent his minion. Steampunk gasped and dived behind a wheelbarrow, covering his face as a mining pick when spinning over his head. He peeked up and saw the female elves swinging their blades and parrying the blows of the attackers while the warlock sent glowing blasts from his fingertips. Steampunk decided to act, as much as his brain resisted, and aimed his wand at the nearest miner. A blast of purple light flew from it and struck him in the back, sending him flying into the blade of a female elf. Steam aimed again and took out another before he realised the battle was over. A handful of bodies lay scatterd around the tunnle, mostly circling the head elf, who was wiping the blood from his blade.
'Wow,' he said sarcasticly, looking at Steampunk, 'thanks for yout help there mage. Not.'
Steampunk emerged from behind the wheelbarrel and pointed to the nearest body. 'I did help! I killed him! I think...'
The group carried onwards down the tunnles, Steam noticing they were slowly sloping downwards, the air always getting slowly warmer. He was not a fan of mines, even though he had grown up in the capitol of mining Ironforge, he preferd to leave it to the dwarves.
'Shouldn't we go back? Those men looked quite...angry...'
'Shut it gnome,' grumbled the male elf, as useal at the head of the group.
The group moved on before reaching a large steel rimmed door attached to the stone walls. It was massive, and the one thing crossing Steampunk's mind was what was so big that it needed a door that size...
The head elf approached it and pressed his hands against it, then pushed forwards. It rumbled and started to open, and other other helped. The door led onto another chamber, for some unkonwn reason containing a large amount of logs piled in rows. The light were a tint of green, and in the darkness ahead something mechanical churned.
'What was that?' whisperd one of the female elves, stepping back and bumping into the warlock. 'I thought this part of the mine was abandond...'
'It should be,' said the male elf. He bent down and scooped up a stone, then threw it into the darkness ahead. It impacted on something mettalic, and was replied with a great thundering noise. Steampunk watched in horror as from the darkness lumberd a hulking mechanical beast, hissing and smoking, piloted by a tiny green figure. From each of the monsters arms swung a large spiked saw, whirriring and growling like an animal.
'Well well,' screamed the goblin pilot, 'looks like the new toys have arrived!'
The elves drew their weapons and the warlock armed himself with his staff. Steampunk was frozen with fear, but at least managed to extract his wand from his pocket and slowly aim it. He watched the mechanical monster run forwards, smashing his saws into the elves. Luckilly the creatures nimbly dodged the blow and darted back. The male elf once again drew his bow and aimed but a saw sliced forwards and caught the weapon, shredding it in half and sending it across the room.
Steampunk shook all fear from his mind and started to summon a spell, concentrating on hitting the goblin pilot. He shudderd as four purple missiles of light flew from his palms and went sailing towards the mechanoid, narrowly skimming over the top of it. The elves meanwhile had circled it, and as it tried to see where they were one of the female leapt into the air and landed on its back. She drew a long silver knife from her waist and plunged it into the armourless back, sparks blasting into her face. She dropped to the ground but the monster had been hurt, it stumbled forwards as the pilot desperatly tried to pull levers and press buttons before collapsing into a heap of rusted metel.
'Wowee!' cried the warlock, emerging from behind some logs. He approached the heap, dust rising from it, and picked up a screw that had been dislodged. As he examined it, a small spikey shadow emerged behind him.
'Watch out!' shouted Steampunk. He threw his hands forward and sent a flaming blast towards the goblin pilot. The warlock ducked and the firey bolt smashed into the goblin, covering him in burning flames. He screamed and dashed around wildly, his hands waving in the air. The male elf darted forward and sliced at the burning goblin, its grinning head flying from his body and landing at Steampunk's feet.
'Cheers,' said the warlock, brushing himself off.
'No problem,' smiled the elf, glancing at Steampunk, 'i've fought much bigger in my time. Now, shall we carry on? Don't want to keep Mr Van Cleef waiting do we.'
