In my studies I have come across some Gnomish myths I would like to share.

The nameless town

A peaceful town which was to be found near Lordearon lake. Many times has it been discussed what the town was to be called.
"Lakeshire!", yelled Ruppi Frostnose, the mid aged grump of the town. He was fairly tall for a gnome and wore a mediocre dark brown beard. Bald as he was his beard was the last sign of that he still did have hair. "It should be caled lakeshire; we live near a lake for crying out loud. This is about the tenth meeting we are having, we must decide this very day!", Ruppi said.
"No no, not lakeshire, there already is a town called lakeshire ville in the arethi highlands. I suggest we call it Brightville", replied the optimistic and naief Jizzle Brightnut. She had light blond hair with even lighter blond streaks. She always wore it perfectly straight. She was slim and rather attractive...but she was not the smartest gnome around.
"Bah, that is just nonsense, none of those names are suiting. Brightville? I ask you...really. Nothing bright about this place, we are not some bunch of holy folk praising the rightiousness. No, I say we call it Sparklehill! That would be excellent!", commented Theodor Sparklehill. The proud and narcistic gnome. He leads the defenses and order of thless town.
"You must be kidding Theodor!", said Jizzle, "How could you call this place after yourself when you did not even found this town?"
"Quite simple really, I lead the defenses here. If it were not for me the wolves would long have chased the lot of you"
"That is non-sense, we would've fought vigantly and you know it Theodor", replied Ruppi angrily
"Nonetheless my vote still goes for Sparklehill"
The night went on and on, discussing the name of the town...but yet again a name was not found. The citizen gnomes slightly frustrated not knowing how to call their home continued their daily life, save one. The young Dalaran Manaburst, was an adventurous and bright gnome. He was naief, and knew only his home. Fighting was something he had never seen in his life, like most of his age.
One day he wandered along the lake as he did every day. It was warm and the sky was cloudless. He looked into the sky as he continued walking and tripped over a piece of wood. He got up and looked at what he had tripped over. A piece of wood stuck out of the sand but you could see that there was more to this wood under the sand. Dalaran strated whiping off the sand and started digging to found out that this piece of wood was in fact a wooden chest! Luckily the lock had broken off and he enthousiaticly opened the chest. He peered into the chest and saw piles of books. He counted the thick and big books. 8 massive books. They had weird titles however and some were written in a strange language. One of the books was a diary. Dalran opened it and started reading the first page. `By Thol´quin' it read. He turned the page.

Dear reader,
I hope you are good of nature and have intention that mean well. If you are wondering, I am Thol'quin, elven wizard of quel' thalas. I write this book because I believe it is the world's right to learn about magic, and not only the right of the elves. This book is an instruction how to use the very basics of magic. I must plead you to only use it to aid those who need help and not to use it for your personal gain! Also, do not mention my name, ever. I do not exist and never have.
Now, let us begin, on the next page you shall commence your training.

Dalaran was shocked to have read this, but contineud reading the diary. Every day he would read a chapter and he in time casted a first spell. Concentrating the surrounding energies into has hands, he could mold a slight dash of fire in his hands. As weeks pass he finaly learned how to amass a ball of fire which he could hurl without it dispersing before it even hit anything. As those weeks passed there still was no nameddecided, though Theodor had reports of murloc activity north of the nameless town.
Dalaran of course, as every day, went to the beach to the chest which he had hid in a cave. Though as he was about to enter the cave he heard something in the cave. he looked in the sand and saw strange footsteps. "Murlocs!" He thought to himself. He could not let the Murlocs read the books, they would learn how to use magic as well...and if they did that they would surely conquer the nameless town. Dalaran decided to quickly head back to town as he tried to warn Theodor.
"Theodor! The Murlocs, you have to help me. There is a book which teaches you how to use magic, and I hid it in a cave and..."
"Come now son, there is no such thing, the murlocs won't do anything, they fear the mighty Theodor, and if not they will if they even get near our town. Now get back to playing with your friends alright?" Theodor interrupted.
" But Theodor..."
"No buts, I am very busy"
Dalaran sighed and thought that perhaps Ruppi would listen.
"Sir Ruppi, the Murlocs have this book which teaches them how to use magic and..."
"Son, what nonsense. Murlocs don't write. Now please leave me alone, I am busy reading this letter."
"But Ruppi..."
"Go! Come back when I am done"
Jizzle, had to listen. If anyone would it would be her!
"Jizzle, the murlocs have a book which tells them how they can use magic. If we do not stop them quick enough they will..."
Jizzle starts laughing. "Now what did they tell you? Murlocs learning magic? Don't be so silly, not even I belief that. Now if you'll excuse me am have to bake this cherrypie"
Dalaran had no one else who could do anything about it anymore. It was up to him to stop the Murlocs. He could learn more magic to defeat the Murlocs, but they have the books now. Dalaran ran to the cave. But the Murlocs already left. And they took the chest with them!
He looked to the groud, following their footprints. He soon stumbled across a small murloc village. He focused, concentrating engery into the palm of his hand, as the energy assembled a burst of flames gathered in the center of his palm. He hurled the fireball at on of the huts setting it on fire. The Murlocs ran chaoticly as Dalaran hurled fireballs at them. They dropped like flies, but there were too many of them. The young gnome turned around and started running. With the Murlocs behind him he ran as fast as he could towards the town, but his legs grew weary...and started running slower and slower. Some of the Murlocs went by water catching up on him and jumped in front of him. He was surrounded.
The Murlocs threw a net over Dalaren and took him back to their village. A big green Murloc with a wooden staff in his hand walked towards him.
" So you know the elven magic? That is forbidden! I presume these books describe how to, don't they?" The Murloc leader said.
Dalaren said nothing and remaind silent.
" You will teach me how to use magic as well! I will get it out of you with pain if I must. So you better do as I say or else"
Dalaren still remained silent. He felt an enourmous pain in his back all of a sudden and black spots appeared in front of his eyes. The spots grew larger and larger until all was black and Dalaran dropped on the ground...

Hours passed as the other gnomes started to get worried. "Ruppi, did Dalaran also come to you talking about the murlocs and some book of magic?" Theodor asked.
"Why yes he did, and he went to Jizzle as well I heard."
Jizzle come into the room and said: "Has anyone seen Dalaran? I wanted to give him a piece of my freshly baked cherrypie."
"You don't think he...oh no! We must head to the murlocs camp immediately. I believe he might be in big trouble!" Said Theodor.
Theodor quickly ammased all of the town's defenses. They marched towards the Murlocs camp where they saw Dalaran beaten and bruised lying in the center of the village.
Theodor commanded his men to attack the Murlocs as he, ruppi and Jizzle went to save Dalaran.
"Dalaran are you alright? " Jizzle asked.
"The books...get the books..." Dalaren said slightly confused.
Dalaran slowly got up. The town's soldiers were petty fighters compared to the murloc's skilled warrios. Dalaran started huring fireballs at them once again. The gnomes stood in awe as they saw this happening. The murloc leader was outraged and came storming towards Dalaran. Dalaran focued the engery into his palm and hurled a fireball at the leader. But the leader was so vigor, it did not stop him he continued charging towards Dalaran. The young gnome hurled another fireball at the murloc but he still was running. Suddenly Dalaran felt pain in his stomache. He looked down as he saw the sharp murloc's claws pierced through his stomache. Dalaran grabbed the murloc's hand and focused energy all around him and the murloc. A flash of fire appeared and Dalaran and the murloc disappeared in a mass of searing flames. The murlocs retreated and the gnomes were victorious. But for a price. Tired as they were the gnomes took the books back to the town. Ruppi, Theodor and Jizzle had another meeting yet again to decide on a name that very evening. The town was to be named Dalaran...

(typos will be removed in due time, ignore them in the meantime)

Jolly good writing Rapholes! You could earn money if you'd write something longer, just corect some spelling, and it's an exelent peice of text.
